Ted Donnelly brings more than 40 years of experience in healthcare operations, as a staff nurse and leader in both the operating room and critical care to Quality and Safety service line leadership.
Led a system wide effort across 28 hospitals to improve Leapfrog Safety Grade performance.
This resulted in a reduction in the number of 'C' grade hospitals from 15(2017) to 7(2020) and amplified the mean numerical grade from 2.85 to 3.07 by facilitating improvement in the Quality structures and safety processes in each facility. These are sustained results that have continued to reflect the improvements that were implemented.
Implementation of Clinical Standard Assessment
Executed 100% of the AWOHNN Maternal Fetal Triage Index assessment process in 18 acute care facilities to provide the highest standards in obstetric care. This initiative was part of the Patient Safety Organization ( PSO) and required the collaboration of the medical staff, nursing leadership and hospital executives in 5 different geographic regions.
Collaborated with Infection Prevention and Nursing Leadership to implement clinical toolkits to be used by the front line staff to improve patient care resulting in cutting CAUTI rates by 38% and CLABSI rates by 47% in the first year.
Integrate Critical Thinking and PDSA Methodology in the Long-Term Care Setting
Co-developed and facilitated full day education for facility leadership and front line staff to incorporate data and performance and process improvement tools and techniques, team development and skills implementation resulting in reduced resident falls and increasing family engagement in care.
